30 Dresses I've Found That Are Perfect for Working From Home

Frocks you'll feel genuinely comfortable in.

When people ask me what I did over the course of lockdown, I can proudly say that I've perfected the cinnamon bun (it's all in the proving), learnt how to use a sewing machine, and I have also managed to create the ideal working from home wardrobe. Yes, that does consist of a lot of stretchy denim and chunky knitwear, but it might surprise you to know that some of my favourite WFH outfits are dresses.

There is, of course, one big box that any home office frock must tick: it has to have a bit of give. While I don't imagine any of us are reaching for the Hervé Leger, some fabrics and silhouettes can be a little restrictive and uncomfortable so when I go for a dress to wear all day at my desk, I need it to be comfortable. That being said, it also needs to look Zoom appropriate, for internal and external meetings, as well as being ideal for quickly nipping out the house to the shops or opening the door to the postman.

Good news then, as the comfortable dresses—be they knitted, oversized, or simply toasty—are everywhere this season, and strike the perfect balance of being effortless to throw-on but also smart. I'd also recommend a shirred dress as that will also allow you movement but there are also some great shirtdresses that are stretchy, too.

Of course, I've been mindful to select dresses that you won’t mind wearing into your office in real life, whether you’re heading back soon or have plans to later in the year. Keep scrolling to see 30 dresses that are perfect for working from home.

Style Notes: It goes without saying that knitted dresses are some of the most comfortable you’ll come across. Wear now with knee-high boots, then switch in some chunky flat sandals come summer.

Such a versatile option.

I think this looks so expensive.

You can never go wrong with The Row.

The contrast neckline and trims make this knitted dress feel so fresh.

Stripes will always be on-trend.

Knotted details are still key for 2022.

Style Notes: Often made from breathable cotton or breezy materials, shirt dresses are perfect for layering over leggings and tights now, but will work just as hard in the warmer months, too.

This would look excellent layered with a grey roll neck underneath.

I applaud the entire styling of this look.

Box-pleats are going to be huge this spring.

This print looks so premium.

Just like Grece’s.

The weighty fabric makes this dress sit beautifully on.

Style Notes: The main thing that can distract me from my work? Being cold. The solution? Long-sleeve dresses. I like mind made from jersey for maximum comfort.

This has been on my wish list for months.

Ganni’s new collection has lots of covetable dresses.

This looks so much more expensive than it is.

Subtle cut-outs give this otherwise simple black jersey maxi dress 2022 feels.

Counteract cold-inducing mini hemlines with long sleeves.

The collar will ensure you look smart on your Zoom calls.

Style Notes: The feel-good factor that comes with wearing pretty floral dresses is precisely why I’ve included them on my list. When I need to feel pulled-together and profesh with minimal effort, this is what I turn to.

I love the pie-crust collar neckline and wrap waist.

Give your wares a springtime jolt with this vibrant print.

Comfortable but so classy.

The perfect throw-on print.

Green is one of 2022’s biggest colour trends.

A great silhouette as well as a great print.

Style Notes: Whether you’re at your desk or taking a lunchtime nap, an oversized dress will provide you the room to feel comfortable and unconstricted.

The sleeves!

You’ll wear this throughout the summer, too.

Add prints into the equation to lift your weekly outfit rotation.

If bold colours are your thing...

The embroidery on this dress is so beautiful.

Checks are always a good idea, whatever you’re doing.

Next up, the biggest spring/summer 2022 fashion trends to know.
